Short DescriptionThis seminar will examine how Star Trek (and other sci-fi storytelling) helps a child’s psychological development through the human experiences of “story” and “play”.
Long DescriptionChildren possess two educational technologies: Story and Play. These are the tools they use to interact, lean, and develop both physiologically and psychologically. Popular culture can have a great influence on their development for better or worse. This seminar will examine how stories like those found in Star Trek, with their pro-social messages, can help a child develop empathy, confidence, bravery, and compassion.
