Short DescriptionA medium-heavy eurogame where players take on the role of Ojibwe tribespeople gathering, processing, and utilizing manoomin, the food that grows on water. You will play half of a game.
Long DescriptionCenturies ago, an Anishinaabe (Ojibwe) elder had a vision to move west to find a food that would grow on water. The food turned out to be a wild rice, which they called manoomin, which grows in the shallow waters of what is now known as the Great Lakes region of the United States. In Manoomin: The Food That Grows on Water, you will take on the role of a member of an Ojibwe tribe. You will be tasked with gathering the manoomin into canoes and then taking it through the traditional process: drying the rice on tarps, parching the rice over a fire, donning moccasins and dancing on the rice to loosen the husks, and winnowing the rice in baskets to throw the inedible chaff to the wind. Once manoomin has been finished, it can then be contributed to the community to help it thrive. This is a competitive eurogame with plenty of meaningful, positive player interaction.
