| Long Description | The nation of Vichy has made preparations for the dawning arrival of the Golden Messiah, an Oligarch of immense power. Vichy’s armies have been set out to “prepare” the world for the Golden Messiah’s arrival. In the war for survival, the inheritors of Fate – called the Blackbirds – stand against Vichy during a castle siege. Neither the soldiers of Vichy nor the Blackbirds have any idea what lies in wait for them at the castle’s heart. BLACKBIRDS is a horror fantasy tabletop RPG set in a world inspired by Europe during the Hundred Years’ War. It can be summarised as an alchemical reduction of three literary styles of fiction: low fantasy, epic fantasy, and grimdark fantasy. Nobility and morality are in no way related. Every battle is a matter of life and death. But there are romantic elements, and a doomed world may also still be beautiful, permeated as it is with melancholic charm. |
