| Short Description | Explore how games enhance healthcare delivery. From physical rehab to brain health, learn how game mechanics improve patient participation and clinical outcomes through real-world evidence. |
| Long Description | In any great game, a hero is defined by the power to shape their own story. Yet, when that same hero loses "health" in the real world, traditional care often strips that power away, reframing the active protagonist as a passive "patient." This shift transforms the vital work of recovery into a series of clinical chores, creating a "salience gap" where the brain struggles to prioritize the repetitive habits required to stay well. This session explores how gamification bridges that gap by transforming healthcare into a mastery-driven pursuit. We will take a broad look at these evolving systems—from physical rehabilitation and mental health to the specialized training of medical practitioners—to show how play combats the mental fatigue of long-term care. Join us to see how game design helps people reclaim their role as the primary heroes of their own journey. |
