| Short Description | Calling all existing and aspiring game designers, GMs, and storytellers! Discover how game rules can enhance theme and character; and practice designing your own mechanics to tell a story. |
| Long Description | In great storytelling games, the rules feel like extensions of the narrative. This session explores how you can design mechanics to convey emotion, theme, and character. Through examples from board games, puzzles, and interactive fiction, we’ll explore how choices, resource systems, and player incentives combine into compelling stories. Participants will get to experiment with translating a story concept into game mechanics, then test how different design choices change how players experience their world. Designers and curious players alike will leave with practical methods for making mechanics speak as loudly as words. |
